Cuda gas tank bolts
« on: April 12, 2010 - 08:58:20 PM »
I took the tank out of my wife's 73 Cuda tonight. It appears that the way the bolts were in the body were juryrigged. I have a few pictures of how it was done. Anyone have any pictures of what the section of the body should look like where the J bolts go? Are the J bolts the same as a B body J bolt?
Any advice would be appreciated. I want to put this back together correctly. I don't need the tank falling out if I hit a good bump.
Thanks!

Thanks Topcat.
It is probably hard to see, but that is the same style J bolt that came out. They put a round washer on one and a rectangular piece of metal over the other to keep the head of the J bolt from coming out of the hole. I am concerned about the shape of the hole. On my road runner the hole is keyhole shaped with the "slot" portion on the bottom to retain the J bolt head.

you have the correct opening inside the hole wher ethe washers were , just twist new j bolts into the inner slots & you are good to go
