« on: April 13, 2010 - 11:23:31 PM »
I'm going out to a recycler's convention thurs nite/comin' home sunday morn. Anything good to check out in the Denver area after 5PM?? The thought of hanging out in a hotel bar all night  :puke: Not that I'm adverse to a cocktail or two but being stuck at your hotel is so BORING!!! I'm bringing the Garmin and have a car rented, any thoughts?????????  :dunno:

Take your laptop with you and keep in touch with CC.Com, a few quiet drinks and no worries about drink driving or going astray..    :roflsmiley:
Hopefully there is a member close by and you will get a Cuda/Challenger fix.

Kinda short notice and an odd time of year for too much to be happening, but...

Nuggets are in the play offs. Avalanche are in the play offs. Rockies season just started. Test and Tunes at Bandimere have started. Racing at Colorado National has begun. There are still a number of ski slopes open. Tour the Coors brewery. Go gambling in Central City.

So your alone and just want to spend a couple hours morally and ethically huh  :roflsmiley:  ?  May I suggest Casa Binieta (spelling ?) Resturant, hope it is still  open, you can check the phone book. It's a neat place, live music and shows going on, all ya can eat Mexican food. I can't even remember if they serve adult drinks or not, we always ended up going with some very "conserviative" friends and I had to be a good boy anyways. :roflsmiley:

i know its a ways off but there is a wrecking yard in Ellicott that has only older cars...may wanna stop by. Webb and Company is the name of the yard. I lived in Colorado Springs for a long time, that is where I would go to do things.

Its Bonita, and I'd pass. It is very cool place for kids, but the food is kind of akin to a Swanson dinner these days. Althought they do serve alcohol now.

This is hit and miss, and I wouldn't receommend it. They hold odd hours and are not always there. For the 2 hour drive it would be for him, surely isn't worth it to show up and they are locked down. They do have more old inventory than any other yard in the area, but the biggest selections of it is A body, and post 72 B bodies. The lone E body in their inventory consists of two partial front frame rails, a cowl, leaf springs and a few scattered nuts and bolts. They did have a triple white Charger R/T they were willing to sell whole for around $30k a few years back. There are a few yards with old stuff on I76 out of Denver though, but I'd imagine their stock would be similar. Any easy picking are long gone.

Hit craigslist to see any old iron for sale in the area. Rocky Mtn Performance Mopar is a local club that may or may not have anything goign on. Might also see if the local chapter of Walter P Chrysler has anything going on.

Temps vary considerably. Two days ago it was 76*. This weekend will be 60* with chances of rain. Bring a coat for sure.

HP2,

They are quite flakey, I always call first, I think their number is 683-2422 but not for sure. They did have a 72 chally from new york that was mostly picked through and quite a few 66 - 70 B bodies the last time i was there (3 years ago). I have been going there since i was 8 years old though so i try to go everytime that i come home. forgot how far it is from denver, from the springs i normally made it in about 30 - 45 min.

Bigs,

there is always the cheesecake factory in denver.

Dang! Too bad I'm booked or I'd ask if I could crash the party. I'm going to pick up and deliver a  '48 Plymouth and look at a '72 Challenger Saturday morning.
