My father and I bought this vehicle almost three months ago. We haven't made much progress and are still brainstorming on how to tackle this project.
We hope to use this forum as a source for completing this 1970 Barracuda. Through time, maybe we can give back as much as we hope to receive through this forum.
Admittedly, my father and I were both had concerns about this car. The seller, Steve, represented the car honestly (see earlier posts in this thread). The body work looks great and the exterior paint is in good condition. The paint does need touched up in a few places. The 426 Hemi looks great and sounds better. Steve and his wife were personable and professional and as far as I could tell - both were alive and well.
Two big issues that we face with this vehicle are: (1) finding a suitable shaker hood (as someone mentioned earlier - this car needs a SHAKER); and (2) finding a restored dash (as the original dash is cracked) instead of using a dash cover.
Regarding the shaker hood, it seems that
www.shakerhood.com has reproduction shaker hoods (
http://shakerhood.com/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=113) and kits (
http://shakerhood.com/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=110) available. Is this the best source for a shaker hood and kit?
Regarding the restored dash, we are at a loss. Neither my father nor I know the first place to look for a restored dash. We have a plastic dash cover, but were hoping for an original or restored dash. Are there shops that restore original dashes?
Please feel free to ask questions about this vehicle, if anyone is still interested, and I will do my best to answer them.
- I know, it was not the greatest first post, but we all have to start somewhere...
