It would be great if ma Mopar would do this. It would put some enthusiasm into the product again. They are selling great yet but it would get people talking for sure!

Well, I'll be honest, I posted the same thing at Challehgertalk.com - and I was ripped over there. I basically came off like a jerk when I said that white R/T's look like crap, poor choise of words.

I will say that I appreciate everyone's open mind here. Very much.

For those who think this is a good idea, just please write a short letter. if this happens, it will be because of US. Nobody else.

Thanks for the open minds and support.

Here is my letter:

I hope this letter finds you with an open mind to a suggestion that I may make in this letter. My name is Donald Emerick; I am 34 years old and have lived in New Jersey my entire life. I have been into “muscle cars” and “hot rods” as far back as I can remember. Watching the 1969 Dodge Charger on The Dukes of Hazzard was a weekend ritual, and I always swore that I would have a 60’s-70’s muscle car sometime in my life.

When I was approximately 13 years old, my father called me into the TV room to show me a movie made in 1971 called “Vanishing Point”. The star of the movie was a Chrysler product! A 1970 Dodge Challenger, painted in Alpine White and graced with the 440 Magnum 4bbl engine. Ever since then, I have wanted a White Dodge Challenger of my own.

Let me preface my point by explaining this: One of your main domestic competitors, Ford Motor Company, does one thing very well in their business. They make low volume, highly sought after models of their version of the pony car, the Ford Mustang. Ford has made limited production versions of the Mustang Cobra, Shelby GT500, and the Mustang Bullitt. Add some “vintage flair”, and make a Mustang resemble the car Steve McQueen drove in the movie Bullitt and raise the price tag by a few thousand dollars. These cars are now collectible, sought after, and retain their values over the years.

May I implore you to consider my idea for a moment? I see that the Dodge brand is starting to bring back older color schemes like Plum Crazy, Hemi Orange and even the latest color Furious Fuchsia. What also NEEDS to happen is for Dodge to consider building a Vanishing Point tribute White SRT-8 Challenger. The SRT-8 is limited production; please paint it white, make 5000 units and charge a bit more on the price tag for this “special” car. I will be first in line, I will promise you.

Please Sir, make a Vanishing Point tribute SRT-8 White Challenger that embodies the spirit of the 1970’s the same way the current Challenger has captured the spirit of the 70’s. The car would speak for itself, and sell very well.

Sincerely and Best Regards,

Just so everyone knows, or cares, I received back a letter from Ralph Gilles, that was personally signed. The letter stated that they would take into consideration my request. Hell, I wasn't even expecting a letter back.

Top notch.

Awesome.

Write 'em guys....I think they will listen...

I read about that car shortly after it hit the streets, if Im not mistaken its the only white SRT car made and they wrecked it on one of the photo shoots or something to that effect.

Don

It was a respray, and I think it was wrecked during the One Lap of America race.

Yea it was originally a black Challenger that was resprayed. And it was wrecked during One Lap.

Now take the SRT-8 with the big hemi, add some retro touches like the r/t badging on the fender and trunk lid, maybe a wooden handle pistol grip and the D O D G E across the hood and BAM, you got one hell of a nice car.
