6Pak Hood vs Ralley Hood 70 Challenger
« on: October 06, 2004 - 05:50:16 AM »
:-\ I need to decide which hood I am going to use. I have an original 70 Challenger ralley hood that needs quite a bit of work to get it to useable condition. I also have a 6Pak hood that would require less work, it's a stock hood converted to the 6pak setup. As some of you already know, my Chally is not stock by any stretch and so this doesn't come into the decision. The car is a hot rod Challenger with a 500 cid 6Pak stroker. I have this posted on another Mopar site as well. Anyway, I appreciate your honest opinions on what you really think. I want it to look HOT! Picture the hoods painted and installed whatever color you desire and let me know what you think!! Thanks!!!  :D

The pictures of the ralley hood are on the next post.  ;D

Sounds like this is a highly moded car, that said your are going for the best look. Id go with the 6pak hood and hang on to the ralley hood  ;D

I like the stock hood and if it is between the two I have to go with what Mopar designed 8)

However....

Both of those hoods are heavy and any E-body is gonna benefit from a Glass hood so I would go with
"C" since it's a modified car anyway

1970 T/A hood in lightweight fiberglass ;)

not the big heavy stock one but a liftoff racing one 8)

Thanks Cuda but I probably would sell the one hood to help pay for something else! Love parts, love to keep a whole barn full but one of them will have to go. Hmm, 360, you gave me an idea, now I really don't know what to do, sell the hoods, help pay for a new TA fiberglass hood? Hmm, anyone in the market for a hood? hehe That's a danm good idea though. Thanks!  ;D

for looks, I would pick the t/a hood, which wasn't a choice. mom always said i was difficult.

don't really like the way the 6pak looks on these cars, but ask youself one question: which one supplies more fresh are for the 500?

put the 6pak on, keep the original hood in the garage.

I voted for the Ralley but I agree with the rest a T/A hood would be my choice! The only problem is the cost of those T/A hoods. If you go that route I would look at a repop or else be prepared to spend some $ :'( I just inquired on one in decent shape and the guy said make an offer and added no lower than $1500 :o However I have seen them go for less than that. :-\

If you decide to go with a lightweight T/A hood, I have one and need a ralley hood.

Hey P.G. if Plum isn't interested in your hood I may very well be. I don't want to get in the way if you guys decide to work out a deal but if not let me know. Thanks   :)

Buldge Hood ("Rallye Hood") No doubt about it!!  8)

Those sexy curves, not over doing it. I like both hoods but believe the Buldge hood is meant to be.

I'd say go with the Rallye hood or the T/A style hood from PG.  The six pack hood looks cool on the B-bodies, but I don't think they have that styling needed to get an E-body to look sleek like they're meant to be.  Let us know what you decide, Plum. ;) 8) :P

I would go with the rallye(2nd) or the above mentioned T/A style(1st) hood.

;D Well guys, I've made up my mind (I think). If all goes as planned, it will have the lift off T/A hood. Thanks very much for the votes and comments, they were very helpful in helping me decide. As a matter of fact I hadn't even thought about the T/A hood till it came up here. Anyone have any pictures of this style hood installed and any pictures or information on what I will need to install it would be very much appreciated! Thanks again!!!
