    Hard to Start with Edelbrock Carb

    Asking this for a friend who has Edelbrock Carb that will not start after sitting the off season.  Splash of gas down the carb & the car starts otherwise no problems.   He has Holleys on other cars & they have no problem starting after sitting many weeks....
       Is there something wrong with his Eddie?... I searched the web & found 1-cheby forum thread with the same complaint, some say they they don't have this issue, but no solution just Eddie bashing.

    Does the carb have fuel to it? Sounds like maybe the bowls are completely dry and the fuel pump isn't doing it's job?

    I have a electric pump so can't quite relate.

    I would guess the old gas gelled in the carb and plugged the accelerator pump passages......if the pump is working and filling the bowl


    Time to open the carb up and soak the body

    My eddie sat from mid december til about mid march and wasnt started once during that time...started right up with whatever was left in the carb.  :dunno:

     I always have to refill the bowls after my car sits for 6 months. :canada:  Doesnt matter if was my Holley 3310 or my Edde 800. Every 4-5yrs it needs a complete cleaning out. The gas these days just doesnt last, it either rots or evaporates. :swear:

    That's what 1/2 the cheby guys said...no problem... the others with Eddies have the problem but no one is offering a solution.

    That's what I was thinking because this happens to T/Qs but after the 1st start everything seems good whereas with a T/Q you have to de-gum the accelerator nozzle..

      Are the Eddies more prone to having the fuel evaporate than the Holleys?
