2010 Hotel Information
« on: April 19, 2010 - 09:15:29 AM »
Hey folks,

It's mid April and there doesn't seem to be much Carlisle hype this year - I'm wondering what kind of turnout we're going to have.

In lieu of this, I don't really think it's wise to go booking a bunch of rooms for the club, as even in years past we hardly use any of them, and the hotel always seems to have rooms available on the weekend in question.

But regardless, I wanted to post information for the usual hotel that the club uses for those who might not know/remember.

We (and I say that weakly as I've never actually stayed there) usually stay at the QUALITY Inn in New Cumberland (thanks MEK).  Number is 717-774-6200.  I was quoted $99 a night, but several members were able to haggle for lower prices when they showed up.  AAA membership is $69.99 (and uh, they never check for your card...)  We usually commandeer a small lot at the back corner of the property to park our cars, and several members set out their folding chairs at night to chat, eat, drink, and just hang-out.  Dave (4Cruizin) loves to start chats about "your favorite car" and in years past we've enjoyed sitting around, poking fun at Don "TheCudaGuy."  :)  Also, on Friday night we usually all pitch in a few bucks for pizza - that's actually one of my wife's favorite events during Carlisle weekend.  The drive to the fairgrounds takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on which route you take (there are several.)

If you have any questions on the area feel free to write me - I don't live there anymore but did for over three years, so I still know it pretty well.  There are hundreds of hotels in the area, and I'm sure some are better than this one, but it just seems to work best for everyone in the club.

I'm going to wait until the show gets closer as it appears that the price goes down.  When we book a group of rooms, the price seems to go up . . not much of a deal.   :eek7:

Just tell 'em you're Triple-A - he told me $69.99 a night.  They never check for your card - never.  Ever.  (And if they do, you just show 'em mine...)

I'm going to call and ask for the rate I had last year ( 70 a night )

I'll update when I hear something.

I'd book there but am a little afraid.

Last year, I booked there and hwen I showed up with my wife and two kids in tow, I was told that our reservation was cancelled by "someone".  After wasting an hour of my time waiting for them to try and fix the problem (they didnt) we wound up staying next door......

What did you guys think of your rooms last year?  A guy in a similar situation there showed me what they put his family of 4 into (one bed)...it was kind of scuzzy......or was it maybe just his room?

Their website is saying $116/night for the AAA rate, and only one room left....

I booked next door at the Rodeway Inn, which is where I stayed last year after Quality Inn cancelled our reservation (I was never treated so poorly by a hotel in my life)......$85/night with AAA.

Isn't it nice Viperman keeps us updated?     :dupe:

It looks like most places are booked. I might drive up for the Saturday show if it's nice, but i won't be around for dinner or anything.

I just phoned the Motel and booked a room with no problem! So I'm comming for sure now! Prices sure jumped though? 100.09/night with CAA/AAA card? Last year I paid $70 per night?
