Body numbers
« on: April 19, 2010 - 08:36:50 PM »
I was working on my AAR today when I noticed that my body guy covered the VIN numbers stamped in to the cowl the ones on the radiator support are there should I go to the trouble of getting the cowl stripped and repainted so the numbers show or should I leave it as is?

Completely covered?

Are you sure you got the same body back?

If they were smoothed over completey I would have to look just to be sure.

I know I got the same body back. The guy that did the body work only works on one car at a time, but works mainly on B-bodies. My first thought was to strip that area and repaint with the numbers visible I know they were there before it was taken in for paint. I just wanted to make sure my first instink was right

:iagree:  I would make sure that the numbers are there.  Especially if we are talking an AAR, the numbers are the only thing that verifies the cars lineage.  :2cents:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

I fully agree.   The thought of that makes me cringe.
