Hard To Start When Hot

I have a 70 cuda with a 440 six pack, when it sits for approx 15min after being driven it is very hard to start. I was told heat from the intake manifold rises up into the carbs and cause the gas to boil and overflow into the manifold. This floods the engine and makes it hard to start. There are supposed to be some phenolic separators between the carbs and the manifold. Not sure what these are, has anybody had the same problem or have a picture of the phenolic separators, where do I get them? Thanks all.

I would pull the intake off & install a 1215 FelPro intake pan with the blocked heat crossover port to keep the intake cooler

dist O ring or gasket depending on the type of dist

Odd...I didnt have to pull the distributor on mine to get the intake off.....

You don't have to pull the distributor to pull the intake on a small block.

They also show cork end gaskets.

Do you guys use end gaskets on small blocks or just RTV?

I always use the end gaskets. That's a pretty big gap to fill with just RTV, but I still use some in the corners.

I had a Orange box ignition on my car with the old 360 motor and it was hard to start after it was warm, but it started fine when it was cold.    It wasn't the Intake because it had a Performer RPM Airgap.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing,......too late now....I assembled about 90 minutes ago.....Hopefully I put enough in there to seal the ends.     Guess I'll find out if I start spewing oil.

if you didnt seal the ends with the cork gasket.you will have trouble later
