Mechanical Fuel Pump

I bought a Carter Mechanical Fuel pump a couple months ago.  I have 3/8" fuel line from sending unit (sending unit also has a 3/8 pu) to the pump.  I was going to install my fuel pump today and noticed that it is 5/16" inlet outlet.  What do I do?  I do not see an option for a 3/8 inlet/outlet.  What are my options being that I want to continue to run a mechanical fuel pump?  Thanks!

Go to your friendly hardware store and let them find a brass adapter to run your 3/8 line. (means not home depot, lol)

You can install larger fittings in the Carter HV mech pumps

The problem is that the fittings on the fp are fixed 5/16 inlets/outlets.  Here is the fp

I am not sure that it is an HV Carter fuel pump.  Does anyone have a part number for an HV?  Maybe I can return it and get one that has the npt's on it and get the 3/8 fittings.

If they are "fixed" fittings I would say the same as above - would there be any reason not to do this?

It seems like it would be a waste.  I have 3/8 fuel sending unit and fuel line, then down size to 5/16 at the fuel pump, then to a 950 carb.  Can that FP give me what I need?  I want to make sure that I am not starving my carb.

The fittings on my carter fuel pump for a 1970 cuda 440-6 came as 3/8ths inlet and 5/16 outlet, The inlet was The inlet was 3/8 tube the outlet was a screw in fitting.  6pk lines are 5/16 from the pump to the carb with the fuel filter inbetween the pump and the carbs. I got my pump at Car quest.  The regular 383 440  hp pump didnt have the same fitting set as the 6pk pump.

I got a holley pump thru Summit, 3/8" in and out, and not a lot of $$.....they ship from stock, if you bush down the line size you lose about 1/3 the cross sectional area.....dk

 I just took mine off. It was noisy  :pullinghair:     But I can even hear the factory one.   Not to hyjak but....    Can anyone recommend a quiet mech. A engine pump?    :1zhelp:
