How do I remove exhaust residue?
« on: April 20, 2010 - 11:27:39 AM »
Does anybody know what product to use or how to remove that gummy brown exhaust residue from the rear chrome bumper and plastic body paneling around the exhaust tips without harming the paint finish or clearcoat?

Any good chrome polish will clean the chrome , I would look at Meguires products for a paint detailer to clean the paint

I tried using Meguiars Spray Detailer here:

http://www.buy.com/prod/meguiars-a-3316-16oz-spray-detailer/q/listingid/65255597/loc/66357/204620473.html

but it didn't seem to work  :horse:

no plastic bodypanels on your ride  :grinno:   I used benzine to degrease and wax afterwards.  I could tell you what brand, but probably not available in the states.

yep, there shouldnt be any plastic.
I use wd-40 on the valance, and then rewax it.
For the chrome bumper just use a good chrome polish.

Try mothers clay bar, it will remove that carbon exhaust residue without harming your finish.
