'70 Challenger =

Pulling onto the freeway the other day this souped up early '80s 911 Turbo with a whale tail, lowered, tricked out rims and fancy brakes just smoked me.  The tired 318 was no match.  I really need to get my 340 done..

I did not try a whole lot when I had my 318.  It was a stock 74 Challenger and the 318 only had like 150 HP.  I got beat by a Ford Taurus SHO and I just gave up...  I beat a 80's firebird with a 305 but I mostly just cruised in that car.  That was some 10 years ago.

The 340 4brl should serve you well.  That would be a setup I would like to find.

Maybe this video will help...I like it;  I think they screwed the text up though, 454??

Yeah I don't normally even try.  My car is just a cruiser too, but folks see that big hood scoop and think there is somthing under there.  I get people wanting to race me all the time.

lol, yep, I remember people wanting to race me all the time too.  It had dual exhaust and like you, looked and sounded a lot faster than it was.

Some of those Porsche's are crazy fast. I went for a ride in my buddies heavily modified 2009 Carrera 4S that is pushing almost 800 hp naturally aspirated, and all I can say is  :wow:

I took a ride in a Porsche 911 many years back and I agree, it was quite the impressive ride.  Took the back roads and it was all I could do to stay in my seat.

:lol2: at the picture!!!  With a built 340 under the hood, I'd say it would have been quite a bit closer than what it was.  I still love watching a video with "Streetracer's '99 VR-4" versus a Porsche...The dude in the Porsche thought it would be an easy kill for him (insisted on going only for $$), but it was exactly opposite.

:iagree: I think he felt "threatened" by you and had to show you up.

Those cars are nothing to sneeze at.  Lookey here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_930

A stock '84 930 has 330hp, as much HP as a '70 383ci engine and it'll do 0-100mph in 11.6 seconds..... modified, who knows how much HP they make, sorta like a modded Supra....

Not to mention the weight advantage.
