Carb sizing on 340
« on: April 24, 2010 - 02:55:19 PM »
I'm looking to put a Demon 750 on my 340,  stock heads, .030 over pistons, comp extreme cam, headers, 6A MSD,  with a performer dual plane intake.  I have a Edelbrock 670 street performer on it now. Looking for an inexpensive upgrade on performance.  It is my understanding that in 72 a 340 came will an 800 cfm carb.  Anyone have any input on this?  Too much fuel?

Yeah, Mee too.  Got a 650 now.  Mines very similar.    Not sure on the 72' 800 cfm deal. Doesn't sound right. But I'm no expert.    I'd like to try a 750.  Maybe jet it down if I gotta'  :dunno:

typically I start around 2x the CI so a 700 is about right
the factory used a 800 CFM TQ carb in 72
I would suggest a 700 Proform carb over the Demon , the demons can be very problematic
