8 3/4 rear ends - Is there a difference??
« on: April 26, 2010 - 04:58:13 PM »
There must me different versions for the 8 3/4 rear diff. The one I just bought has and open side case and only has two spider gears..one on either side. I though they were all the same. I guess mine is from and older gereration..not as good????  :clueless:One more thing the pin that goes through the housing to hole the two spider gears is missing.  :banghead: :pullinghair:Anyone know where I can get one??? :dunno:

Sounds like you got a single track. Also the pin will have 2 spider gears with it to. It takes 4 gears

If my friend dint haul it off, I gave him a perfect center last month. It is good enough to run as is. Or take what you need off of it. I will ask him tomorrow for you. I will see if I got an open center some where if not and see about sending the parts to you. I got an MRI to do tomorrow first tho.  Are you in Canada?  I forget

the cone type has 2 gears on the cross pin  & 2 axle gears & has springs between the axle gears , so I assume you are missing the cross pin & 2 gears ?
the clutch type has 4 gears on the cross pin & is twice as strong

I thought I read your post to say that it was open and missing a pin and 2 gears. You didnt mention springs n stuff.  I checked today and my friend scrapped the open case
