Low cost tires & wheels for the strip?
« on: April 26, 2010 - 06:23:06 PM »
When I finally get my motor back, I'm going to want to go to the drag strip from time to time. Nothing real serious, just a little Friday night test and tune for fun. I'm running a 323 gear, so I'd like to go with a slightly lower profile tire. I'm going to go with a set of rears only.
What would be a good yet inexpensive wheel and tire combination for me?
THANKS!

i've bought craigslist slicks before on wheels. been awhile though. sometimes you can get some with some runs left in them for pretty cheap, you will have to swap tires at the track though..which is a pain. If you don't want to swap tires, the mentioned drag radials are the way to go.

Is that the widest tire I can stick under a stock car? How can I learn about the right back spacing when I buy rims for these tires?

I have a 295 tucked under my car & I have less than 3/16 of an inch between the tire & body & I had to recenter the diff to get that
