Hey all
Need some help and advice that is probably best from you blokes as the wiper motors and switches in our Aussie Valiants are nothing like the US ones.
Firstly what I know.
I'm pretty sure my 70 challenger (10/69 build)originally had a standard dash. The dash frame and wiring support this assumption.
Someone has fitted a rallye cluster to it.
Now from what I can work out you could get 2speed,3 speed or variable speed wipers. Is this correct?
The wipers in the car aren't working but I tracked the problem to the switch.
When they worked, though, they only had one speed.
The dead switch appears to be a variable speed switch.
I plugged the switch out of a 72 Dart Swinger I have and they worked but still only one speed.
The Dart Swinger switch appears to be a 3 speed.
I then tried a switch from a wrecker 67 Dodge Phoenix (What you'd call a 67 Plymouth Fury)which was a variable switch and it worked but still only single speed.
After that I'm a bit stumped as to what to check next.
Is there any way I can tell if my wiper motor is 2sp,3sp or variable?
Would the wiring in the car be incompatible to the wiper motor fitted?
Do you absolutely need the right switch with the right wiper motor and right wiring?
I'm in the dark.
Any help and advice appreciated.
Below is a pic of the wiper motor if that's of any help.
