Parking Brake Handle Removal Question

Hello,

I just got my new parking brake handle for my '72 Challenger and I'm wondering are there any tips or tricks to removing the old handle?  It looks like a small metal pin holds it in place and I tried pushing it out with an allen wrench, but it didn't budge. 

Before I try more force and risk breaking something, I thought I'd check to see if anyone has a better way to get the old handle off.

never had mine off but it looks like you will have to use a punch to remove the pin,,maybe soak it down with pb blaster or wd-40 and then try it

I`m not sure if it`s the same as a 70, but I decided not to try. The only way to get it out is by using a punch, but you will have to let it rest on the plastic.  40 year old plastic always seems to crack whenever I touch it....

That's what I'm afraid of!  My "hammering without breaking" track record is not too good.
