Another firm Feel VS Steer & Gear question
« on: April 27, 2010 - 05:52:01 PM »
I hope this makes sense. Ok SG has a better price on the build than FF $285 vs $329.  SG is actually closer than FF making shipping a bit cheaper/quicker. Both seemed nice on the phone. But FF offers to machine a groove in the box for a retainer ring for the lower seal for an extra $45. This is to help keep the seal in check. Anyone here taken them up on this offer?? Guys I've talked to locally seem to like the idea. Worth it you think????:dunno:

I'd like to send it somewhere tomorrow or the next day. Mine's out and ready to go!!  :grinyes:
Thanks

I have not had an issue with the lower seal moving , I would just go with S&G

:iagree: And they pay for shipping your core to them. When your new box shows up, they include a pre-paid shipping label for your old box.

I had mine done at FF (stage 30) and very happy so far.

I did a google search and found more negative about S&G than FF.  I live in PA and FF is way across the country.....I still went with them and paid more in shipping.

Never looked back.

Though they never mentioned the groove deal to me.....is that lower seal a problem area?

I know the groove is standard issue on allot of GM boxes.. and if you dont have the ring seated the seal will literally push out. As for ma's??? Maybe an issue THEY came across, dont really know... but mines gotta go somewhere....SOON!

Firm Feel! :2thumbs:

Never had to worry about blowing the lower seal if pump is stock and functioning properly.

S&G extra firm for 3 months now and I love it.
Not as stiff as I thought it would be, but definitely noticeably more effort.

Do you need to search for the zeroposition as you have to do when restoring the factory one?
