My Challenger had a bad day today- wrecked
« on: May 01, 2010 - 07:33:52 PM »
Today started off pretty good. It was the first time out for a car show since I got it finished. It was running really good up on the interstate. All of the gauges were right where they were suppose to be and it sounded really good. I got off the interstate and was heading over to the show when the traffic in front of me came to a stop. I got her stopped but the car behind was distracted by the kids in the back seat of her car, she looked away for a second and then turned to look out the windshield  and slammed into the back of my Vert. She didn't even have time to hit the brakes. Everyone was ok. A little sore and whole lot of sick to my stomach. The pictures don't really do it justice. It is actually a lot worse than the pictures show.

As noted, let's hope she has good insurance limits because $25k it's likely to cover it and you might even need to dip into your own insurance if she is "underinsured".  If they decide to total your car, you could then buy it back at a reasonable price and have a new project!

Accidents are almost always the result of following too close and driving too fast while being distracted.  When are we ever going to learn.

That is terrible! I sure hope you get it fixed, the aren't making any more!!
Sometimes it seems like nice cars are magnets for bad drivers.  You can drive a POS 15,000 miles a year and never even have a near miss.  But take your baby out for a short drive on a perfect day, and some dufus runs into you. :walkaway:

I am really sorry to hear this. Good luck with getting her all back right.

Jay, first, I'm glad that you are OK.  I was happy to see you at the show, but still in shock over your car.  Second, get good estimates, find the most expensive body people you can and sit back to enjoy the fact that, this time, you won't be blocking the car.

First off, i'm glad everyone was ok-or so to speak.  I really hope there is a good ending to this. Though you are definatly shut down for a while.  I just don't have the words right now. I feel anger and sadness.   :pullinghair:
