Good point bullitt. I scratched it up a bit getting it in without dropping the tank. i know sort of half a$$ED.. I'll try some steel wool if/when I pull it out next time. The trunk is coated with undercoating on the inside, probably because the rear window leaked, and instead of fixing the source, they fixed the symptom. Typical of the work done on the car. One of these days I'll redo the trunk most likely when I paint the whole car.
