It's been raining like crazy here in So Cal all winter, and I have had to park my car outdoors. I have a leaky rear window, the filler tube gasket leaks, can't find a gas cap that works with the flip top, and there is a gasket missing between the filler tube and qtr panel. SO I have been getting water in my gas, which has caused a ton of grief.
We had some more rains a week or teo ago and I got another dose of water in the tank. I thought i had stopped it with a makeshift gas cap, but didn't Anyway I now have hopefully shored it up. We'll see next year when it rains again.
Here are some shots I took today when I pumped out the gas tank. In the bucket you can see a layer of water with dirt floating on top. I think that is from my old filler tube since replaced. The pic of the glass shows the delineation of gas and water.
I can't even fathom how so much water got in there!
