Has to be swap bait

I always see them around though, even the swap meets at the small shows

If you want to do it, it's best to use the brackets and the '70/'71 bumpers
The later bumpers have extra holes and are marked up from the bumperettes

The earlier front brackets are easy to spot with two holes where they attach on
the frame instead of 3

I like the later ones myself plus they are safer 8)

I'd have to disagree with you on this 360  ;D I like the 70 stlye better myself. The bumpers later on are only 5mph "crush" safe so you either have a crash or you don't.  ;D In saying that though what kind of car is this, #'s or custom. I prefer custom over "clone" and think that should be the new word for "clone" Custom.  8)

Is it just the front that use different brackets or does the rear also?

I know what your saying but don't forget, the first 'CUDA I ever saw in person was my buddies
'73
Also, the later ones have extra reinforcement full length and are somewhat safer

If Chrysler had wanted to save the E-body they should have come up with some bumper like
the GM F-body to give them a more intergrated look

A new hood/grill arangement, cats, banjo style motor mounts, fastback and a big block 1975
could have been the best year yet

There I go again...................dreaming

What were we talking about again?

The back bumpers are different too

They just keep getting bigger after '72

That reminds me
'72 bracket are the same as '70 and '71

Best year yet!?!?!?!?  ??? 1970 was the best engine wise after that everything went down hill.  :'(
If they "continued" making e-bodies in 1975 to come up with a powerful big block they would have had to pull something out-of-the-bag. Either that or they we're hidding something...........................

Granted the best engine year was 70 and my Barracuda is a 70 but the best years for everything else was 72-74.More disc brakes, electronic ignition and bells and whistles.Nothing like trying to stop a big block car with drum brakes.

Yes in a major 50 mph crash, probably not much difference in protection.  But I'm willing to bet at a 20mph or less crash, or your car is hit by some idiot in parking lot.- with 72+ bumpers you are not looking for a new griille / valance panel where it's more likely you would be looking for a 71 grille. Happy searching !

maybe were lucky they did stop at 74 or them might have moved to something like the 75 Road Runner  :P or called the Magnum a Challenger (there cool cars but) kind of like what Mustangs and Cameros went through in the KIng Cobras and the 2nd gen camsmers.

I still say 70 was the high water mark. Electronic ignition was not that much better than a factory dual point. No leather, louvers, multi carbs,SE pkgs,...

Not to mention no HEMIs, dropped power in most of the engines and dropped engines altogether.  :-[

Like i said,70-71 is better, for engine performance ONLY.If dual point where just as good why arent they still using them?Old technology and you can still float dual points, never heard of anyone floating an electronic dist! Can you imagine driving a brand new 2005 car with points and drum brakes,LAF.They would never pass a smog check either.

Like i said,70-71 is better, for engine performance ONLY.

Ok where do I start.................

1972-74:
# First of all the convertible and Challenger Deputy models were dropped and the R/T was renamed the Rallye.
# The shaker was not available.
# Also dropped was the formal roof option and coloured bumpers.
# 15 inch wheels were no longer available from the factory.
# Only two high impact colours were avalible - Hemi Orange (V2) and Top Banana (Y1).
# (Vinly Top) Only black, white or green.
# Vinyl bucket seats were the standard. Leather or cloth inserts could not be ordered.
# The steering wheel was the same on all models and was a polished two-spoke unit
# The optional chrome flip - open gas cap was deleted.
# 11 inch brakes were dropped
# The 7.25 and 9.75 inch rear axles were both dropped.
# Tthe 198 6 cyl. engine was dropped with the Challenger Deputy. The big blocks were also dropped. Monster power died this year. R.I.P.
This left the 340 cu. in. V8 as the top dog and it came as standard in the Rallye.

Performance only??   ;D  Looks is an opinion.  8)

 Ok, enough already.
1970+1971 are the best, all others useless cheap copies.  :-\ ::)  Joking, of course...
Wait, 1971 had no R/T convertible, and the rallye center cap color was changed to a horrible shade of grey, and less E-bodies were sold in '71 than '70.  So 1970 must be the best. :o :-X
But late 1970 models had more options available, than early '70's. But early 70's were a more pure distallation, and their body panels came out of the stamping machines earlier, so their body lines were crisper. But early 70's were not as good as the pilot cars. And the pilot cars aren't as good as the prototypes. And those aren't as good as a challenger design that wasn't chosen to be the winner. And those weren't as good because they were drawn up with a Mercury Cougar in the styling studio for inspiration/ comparison... etc etc....
So , maybe the best year was '74 , since it was the last year. And the least amount were sold. So they were only bought by die-hard fanatics. Not people just caught up in a new model euphoria of purchasing.

My point being, if we need to justify why one year E-body is better than the others , maybe it is time to buy yourself another musclecar altogether, maybe a Dart or Coronet Super Bee- so you can re-focus.  Or, dare I say it ? Another brand so we can have dual loyalties , say Mopar and Pontiac, than you could argue with yourself which is better, your Challenger or RamAir GTO Judge in Orbit orange.   :-* :-*
