Heads up on jimsautoparts.com
« on: May 06, 2010 - 11:27:14 AM »
Don't know if you guys have ever dealt with them, but I was going to order something from them this morning and I am seriously unimpressed.

I wanted to order a spoiler kit from them which is about $400. So I call them up, and of course one of my first questions is..."how much is shipping?". And she couldn't tell me. Said they have no idea how much shipping is and they will just charge it to you later....then she told me that if I didn't have enough money in my account to cover shipping they wouldn't even send them item.

So basically I have to make sure I have the money in my account to pay for the part and shipping but they won't tell me what shipping is. What b.s. I am definitely not going to order from them now, and hope none of you have to go through this runaround either. Speaking of which anyone know where else I could get this spoiler kit? http://www.jimsautoparts.com/spoilers.htm it is item no RP-8880 at the top there.

I'm looking at year one right now, but they don't have a picture so I am not sure if it is the same thing...

Yeah what a joke they were. Her answer to this was "we've been in business 30 years and nobody ever complains" lol bull crap.

I've been meaning to order a year one catalog and it seems like the time has come lol. At least that way I should be able to get some pictures of stuff I want.

I generally wont order from a place if they wont provide some idea of shipping costs.

There is another well-know vendor who does the same way....."we wont know the shipping cost till we process the order and send it".....That gets on my nerves, though I have to say I have ordered from them before for thinsg I had to have and they were fair.....I would just prefer to know what my total out the door cost is.....it helps for when you want to compare total prices from different vendors.

It's just laziness on the part of the vendor. They have a pretty good idea, if not down right accurate ability to say X part is y dimension and Z weight. Input that info and a zip code in an online calculator can get you within pennies of an accurate shipping cost.

I had a similar issue with a reputable parts company. After I placed a big order they came back with shipping that was at least 3 times what it should have been. I proceeded to cancel my order and bought everything from several other places. It didn't make a difference to me, their actions lost them a customer for life and I ended up saving money going through other vendors. Best lesson you can teach a company with poor customer service is to NOT spend your money there.

I bought a part from jim's it was a gas tank gasket piece of rubber that goes around filler neck in the trunk. They charged my $16 in shipping.I called them and said are you out of your mind that is crazy you can send a part like that through us mail for $5.00.You ripped me off.She said to me well that is what the charge is to bad.I would never buy from them again even if they were the only ones with a part i needed right away i would wait before i dealt with those losers again.
