Opening up cuda scoops...any pictures?
« on: May 09, 2010 - 02:47:51 AM »
Looking for pictures/info on opening up the "raison bran" two scoop cuda rally hood.

Am considering buying a  used one but only would if I can open the scoops up to get a little more air....( I really like the AAR hoods but too pricey for now).....

I searched for "hood" and spent an hour or so lookin thru the results .....but pictures were hard to come by.

WOuld like pictures of two-coopers that have been opened up.....pics of "how to " would be great too...

Thanks guys

How did you make out Triple Green? What adhesive was used on your top?

I cut out the openings on my hood. I will try to take some pictures for you tomorrow. The one thing I remember is that the inserts were made out of some type of pot metel that was very very hard. I just cut them out with a cutoff wheel and then welded in mesh to cover the hole. I know that they are not really functional, may actully let some heat out, but I just prefer the way they look.

Thanks confederate cuda.....

I dont car e much for non-functional hood scoops on a car....its just eye candy......thats why I am asking.

I am still debating in my mind whether to even go look at the hood.....

my dream is the t/a type  or a 6 pack type...either of which is pricey.

Yeah, I cut mine open. There is a thread somewhere. The hard part is cutting out the scoop inserts across the tops. The cast material chews up wheels. Then re-insert and trace onto hood. Pull and cut.  I used a cool aluminum "Gutter guard" product from HD. 2 bucks. and then Cut up some cardboard templates. A small return flange across the bottom sandwiched in between the scoop insert and the hood keeps them in place very well.   I'll get some newer pics for ya'   As I just re-did one side. R/T

I found some old pics...
also...
I can see the hot air dump out at a light. Why would you make such a cool hood that's not even open?  I got plans for little spring loaded doors you can pull shut in the rain with a choke cable.   And some say the scoops aren't high enough on the hood to let much air in while driving. But my valve covers are scratched from the wind blowing the loom down onto them.

The Cuda Rallye hood is suppossed to get reproduced soon.

I would wait and buy one of them and cut out the inserts instead of cutting an OEM one up first.   :2cents:
