Do I a need those rain deflector?
« on: May 09, 2010 - 09:21:05 PM »
Like I said in a previous post, I'm now working on the convertible top of the challenger and while a was shopping for a few parts I found these. I dont know where they go and I dont know if I need these? One thing for sure I dont have those rain deflectors.

They go inside the rear window hole and clip on to the metal. If anything splashes into there it just directs it downward a little.  Don't lose those as they are rare and not repopped yet.

Here's the pics you asked for. In the last picture you can see my original green paint also showing where it goes.

It was no big deal, I was in that area putting on my newly chromed end molding. Sorry the pics weren't taken sooner.

I was wondering the water that fall between the fender and the rear panel where she goes? Is there suppose to be a hole in the floor?

Yeah, it would have looked pretty sharp with white interior and top but it was already painted when bought in '79.

There are drainage holes at the bottom of the 1/4 panels.

Yes, and just pray they aren't plugged up.    :grinyes:

Hummm ok. After I read that I went look to see if could find those holes and I can't see any. Keep in mind that the body man who start the body work die he wasn't done. So we had to find somebody else to finish the job, really dont know if they plug the holes!!    :pullinghair:

When I put my quarters on, I puposely left big holes in the bottom.  When a convertible's top is closed, all of the water coming down the rear roof goes into the rear gutter which flows into the rear window-quarter cavity.  Make sure that everything in there is well water proofed too.

I've been caught out in some storms before where the rain was coming down like I was being sprayed by a fire hose.  I wanted to be prepared for that much water.

They aren't "exactly" holes. They're more like an outward bulge on the bottom lip of the 1/4 panel. The first pic is passenger side (see the new fuel line), the other is the left.

Look at a stock untouched quarter panel. I has a rectangular hole under this area, unlike the angled drain holes going to the front, the entire length of the rocker.  You might wabt to open that up a little.
