That's part of the relay for the ejection seat...... :roflsmiley:I'm not sure but to take a guess, I'd think it might be part of the seat belt interlock, but I don't think that came along until '73 or '74. My '74 had it which required the seatbelt to be fastened for the car to start. It was dicontinued. Are the seats original to the car?? Maybe someone else more knowledgable will chime in!!

Looks like a heater?

Are there build sheet parts under the metal strip?

I thought the same thing about being a heater, but there's PLASTIC pieces along the center so that's out..It looks like the two pieces that run length wise are spring loaded and make some kinda contact at the top when someone sits in the seat.? No, there are no pieces of build sheet under this thing either...It appears to be factory as it has little clips that hold it on and a Chrysler tag on the wiring..I've never seen one before....

It's a seat out of a 74 with the seat belt interlock system switch

Are these 74 only? Is this option rare?
I would assume this is not desireable and is probably a pain in the butt?

my 73 has them, it is a seat belt warning hooked to a light and a buzzer, the light is on the right inside of the cluster and the buzzer up behind the ash tray.  aaanoiying little bugger.

Yes, it's a switch. When you sit on the seat the foam and the springs stretches out and the switch makes contact. In that way the seat belt warning light only comes on when someone sits on the seat. Clever device...

 :iagree:

72 and up have them. Rallye dashes have the fasten seat belt light hole on the right angled edge of the gauge cluster.
The switch is more commonly know as a butt detector.  :icon16:
