radio & rear speaker

trying to get everything ready for after the headliner is in to complete the interior, my radio does not work, it's an am/fm out of a challe, worked when removed 30 years ago(got it as a gift from a friend) it powers up & I get a static click in the speaker & thats about it. I opened it up & blew out the dust, nothing looks burnt up, thats as far as my know how goes!
Just interested in a stock system, I also need a new rear speaker.
Got the name of the guy that rebuilds em off another post,  mike hagen,lists mopar rebuild at 120 bucks, is that the way to go, the radio also has that extra plug for the tape deck I think.
Need a sorce for the rear speaker  also again to match a stock radio. thanks ,Rich.

    Are you connecting a grounded antenna?..   

 As for the rear speaker any ole 6X9 will work, the smaller the magnet the better. 
If there's any old school electronics shops local to you check there, they may have a new dash 4x10 as well otherwise just get a new set of low end speakers.

Hmmmm,1st time I tried it was in the car, ariel in(now if it grounded properly with the new paint I'm not sure) after I cleaned it(it wasn't that dirty) I did it on the bench hooked up to a battery but the ariel was just standing on the corner of the bench against the wall.
Can I just hook the base of the antenna to the neg on the battery for the ground(figuring the whole car is grounded to that?)
I have the front speaker, saw some rears on ebay will go back & check em out again, only one said chrysler & ford on it. Thanks ,Rich.

I've never tried an OE radio with an antenna that was not grounded, I've had some that it did not seem to matter but several radios, including the one in my car now, will not tune in with the antenna not mounted.

Another question, I'm searching speakers & they list as 2 way 3 way & 5 way, what does that mean & what were the originals? Thanks Rich.

2-way adds a tweeter, aka coaxial ...3-adds small mid + tweeter aka triaxial, etc etc. ....
Originals were just single cone, I don't think I coaxial speakers were around until the late 70's.

Checked I& his shipping is more than the speakers.... Way too much for brand X.

You gonna add a amplifier....not gonna get much sound out of the old 2-5 watt radios with these kind of speakers.

Just go to bestbuy etc and get a pair of 6 x 9's.  You can also get a4 x 10 sdpeaker for the center dash anywhere.

There was another speaker for far less. I just posted those because they stated 4 ohms, gonna try that radio again now & ground the anternna wish me luck! Rich.

No luck, wrapped some wire around the base of the antenna & hooked it into the battery ground, same problem get some static, little green tuner light in the radio brightens up as you pass the stations but nothing out of the speaker, I guess I look local first if nothing close happens I'll send it out. thanks for the help,Rich.

I don't know what year yours is but mine is a 1970 thumbwheel type and it utilizes the pictured crossover for left, right and centre. Being a vert, I don't have rear speakers. Oh, this thingy is mounted on the side of the glove box.
