Brought Home More Junk.....
« on: May 16, 2010 - 06:43:47 PM »
Brought this old 74  home with me Saturday. My friend, Tom, helped me out with the truck, trailer, time and labor, but disappeared once she was off the trailer.

This is pretty much "as purchased"

I threw some tires on the back, some spindles, rotors, tires on the front.

I would go nuts just looking at all I would have to do on that one and I would bury it on the north forty. You are a BETTER man than me, good luck....

You know, there will come a time when a shell 'this good' will be highly sought after.  They aren't making the old Challengers any more and when demand totally outstrips supply your new 'project' will look better & better.  Is it really too far gone to save or just more than you want to handle?

Just curious about the VIN number / SPD if you have it? I get asked about  "is mine the highest known 1974 Challenger VIN" fairly often so I try to keep an eye out for any I have not heard of yet.

Well, it's kinda like a cake with Duncan Hines chocolate frosting over a base of sawdust. Looks good on the outside, but not so good underneath.

I actually wasn't sure I was going to be able to jack it high enough in front to get wheels/tires on. Finding a solid jacking point was the first challenge, then I encountered "flexible frame rails". I'm pretty sure the torsion bars are holding the front end together. The weird part is that the floors aren't all that bad!

I'll look for a VIN later. Don't have it handy right now.

At least while I had the blue 73 out of the garage to pull old clunkie through, I had the opportunity to take a new sig. picture.  :)

This is the last of them, yes.

Yessir, same guy. I bought all three as a package. The 74 is a bit too far gone and will donate parts so other, more fortunate cars can survive...
