Junk yard'n today
« on: May 21, 2010 - 09:16:46 PM »
I had a good day at the junk yard... :bananasmi

I have been looking for parts to upgrade my cars brakes to 11 3/4" disc's and I had visited eight yards over the past month with no luck.  So today I went to look at some parts, that I saw on Craigs List, (I didn't buy anything). So I decided to stop by the Pick-a-Part yard on the way back. I figured I wouldn't find anything so I didn't take my tools in the first time in.  :banghead: I head over to the Dodge part of the yard and they are loading it up with new cars and I see a 79 Cordoba, a quick look underneath and I spy dick brakes, pin style and I need the disc brake brackets for the larger calipers.   :jumping: I go out to my truck to grab my tools and start to pull the brakes off the Cordoba and they wheel in a 73 Dart, I walk over and look /6, so I think it probably doesn’t have disc brakes, look underneath….disc brakes.  :woo: I finish up pulling the Cordoba a part and head over and pull the spindles off the dart and grab the dust shield as well.  So, I now have the parts I need to upgrade my brakes.  :clapping:

I will order new calipers and rotors as well as new brake lines.  Now I have another project to do.

Nothing like spending a day in the junk yard. We used to hit Mopar row in Sun City, anything you needed just bring your own tools.

Good luck with your new/next project.

Yeah Bigs, most of us are jealous of you..... :poopoke:  :poopoke:

I wish my dad would have started a Junk Yard back in the 70s like he wanted to but my mom talked him out of it.   :banghead:
