:iagree: Everything, and I mean everything, underneath is sprayed with undercoating for a northern car.  Brake lines, fuel lines, everything.  Why do people on the forum call BS?  The undercoating is what saved our car for the 30+ years it was in New England.  The only thing it needed was a small patch on the driver's side floor.  Did the inspector crawl under it and poke at the frame rails, etc to make sure it is not covering up anything?

The inspector said the car was solid....he was supposed to poke around to determine that. Here a few pics. See how the undercoating stops where the floor ends....I would think they would have sprayed further back as well. This car is the same price as the Cuda. Now---71 Chally R/T NOM or 73 Cuda matching numbers?? Both are 340 4speeds....

The undercoating looks right, what's strange is why it appears to have been stripped off from the rear back.  I wonder if they started out to clean it all of, but gave up part way through.  It could also be that that area is more visible.  If it was me, it would be the Chally no questions asked.

So this one may be worth over $30K, but the Cuda isn't?

there are plenty of 4 speed cars big block and small block  around in that price range #matching or not . remember it costs 30 g and up just to restore a car these days , if you are going to mod the car i wouldnt buy a almost stock car to do it too . buy a driver and fix it up youll be happier.

Yes, the 71 Challenger is worth more than the 73 cuda.

Here's one on fleabay that looks decent....

It's funny that the NADA pricing says the opposite..

That one on EBAY does not look bad, but to be honest I am having some issues with that color. It's one of the few colors I don't want--yellow, pink and the Sassy grass green. Sublime was better IMHO--but we don't want to get into a color rant.....

I'm with you on the color!

Not sure where NADA get their data. REAL selling prices are the real guide.

What was wrong with the 73??

...I owned it for 2 years, it never ran right from the second it was unloaded off the transporter...electrical issues, ignition problems over and over and over...had several carbs installed by the dealer, never would idle...turn on the A/C and it was like turning off the key...it would die in traffic 100 times a day if you continued to restart it all the time...spent many really hot days in San Antonio sitting at stoplights with the windows rolled up waiting for the light to turn green and restart the Cuda...I think the car truly was a Lemon

...it seemed cursed too, but that was a different story...it was rear ended the first day I owned it, a tree fell on it a few months later and crushed the roof while parked in my driveway, it was hit hard several times while parked on the street, it finally drowned in sewage while being driven by the next owner...I believe it was Christines son...last time I saw the car (1977-78) it was rusted all the way up to the side marker lights all the way around...the pix I posted was taken a few hours after delivery (dealers tags)...it surely was ( I hope) turned into Pepsi cans 30 years ago...I loved the car, but it sucked to own it

I just bought a 71 Challenger, 340 AT, Sassy/wh for near what they are asking for the 73 Cuda...far more potential for appreciation down the road... unless you are just hooked on a 73 Cuda, keep shopping, better deals are out there

Being that the excessive undercoating was my only issue with the Challenger, I am thinking I will buy that one.

To much for the 73 - beware the undercoating on the Chally. At least ask to take a peak under the carpet (I would) and if you see undercoat there, you now something lurks beneath it. You can find a much rarer car in the current market for 35K. Keep looking and don't rush. It's a buyer's market as we speak.

I will pull the carpet back and look--hopefully won't find anything. The owner has been straight with me about everything else. He is even willing to let me escrow the money if I want the car shipped and if I don't like it when it gets here I put it back on the truck and send it back. It sitll costs me shipping, but it's better than losing all the money. That's rare. But instead I think I will fly to Fla and see it in person and pay him on the spot if all is good.

I didn't realize this was a long distance deal. If you're going to spend 36K I highly recommend the flight to Florida. Temp tag it and drive it home.

I don't like undercoat. You can't see through it and it's my opinion that it's used more to hide things then prevent rust on a freshly restored car. Be careful. Pop the rocker moldings and take a hard look. Ask if he has pics of any past body work.
