you need to be in the 35-38* range above the advance curve , if it needs more timing at idle you will need to shorten the curve by either dialing off the vacuum adance with an allen wrench in the vacuum pot of the dist or disconnecting it totally

Thanks guys

Super reading.

Will it be possible to time it without the timing tape on the damper. I will first have timing tape monday.

I have 10 degrees before and after tdc on the timing cover.

Thanks Guys

From Step -1  "-Attach Mopar timing tape or measure and mark degree increments on the vibration damper to about 40 BTDC. (Note 1 inch equals 16 and 2 ¼ inches equals 36."

You can buy a dial back timing light instead of the tape if you want.

Hi guys.

So it was time for timing my ´70 318.
At idle i have 15 degrees and 34 degrees at 3000 rpm with out vacuum, fine i think. But with vacuum it advance up to 55 degrees, its that right

I running MP electronic ignition.

Thanks guys

It sounds pretty much exactly what mine was like. I dialed the vacuum adjustment down, but that's pretty close to what I ended up with. Which is why I unhooked my vacuum advance and run 16* at idle, I adjusted the mechanical advance and sit at 36* at full advance.

Found this recommendation

"Drive the car. If it bucks at part throttle or on the freeway while cruising, turn the allen wrench one full turn counterclockwise. This will retard the vacuum advance. "
