I've heard a couple things with the 180° thermostats.  First, you can't just install the thermostat and expect to see any change.  You need to get a Diablo Predator tune and do that tune to see any benefit from the new thermostat.
And I've heard it argued that the thermostat doesn't really do anything, because the engine runs hotter than that under normal operations anyway?

Yeah, the engine will still get up to operating temperature, which is around 210 I believe.  Just the thermostat is opening up a little sooner, allowing the coolant to flow a bit sooner.  No real performance gains.

I have a 180 installed as well as the Predator to adjust the fans. The engine defiantly runs cooler. A 160 will set a code as it's way to cool for the computer.

I cannot answer about the dealer. I would almost think they could do it. But if they want $100 hookup fee I think I'd put the money into the Predator. You will be surprized how it wakes the car up and I'm only using the 91 setting.    :22yikes:

I got mine used from a guy over on Dodge Challenger FormZ. I paid $240 and it came with the cable package to up link  to their web site. As new croms come out it is upgradeable for free. It's easy to use just a few clicks of the buttons and you're in.  They usually run $375 but I've seen them on sale from various vender's for $275. The updater package is around $40. If you go like I did just make sure the unit has been returned to the stock position as the unit can be married to only one car at a time.

I installed my 180 T-stat along with re-setting the fans and it makes a difference especially in 90 degree heat with the A/C on. I have had one instance this past winter when it set a CEL which was a thermostat code (engine was cooler than the ECM thought it should have been), it didn't bother me since I knew what it was. I plugged in the Predator and erased it. The Predator does wayyy more than just load tunes.

Got to their site and read up on it.

http://www.diablosport.com/index.php

It comes with a manual and has a lot of features with it.
Here is a thread on another site that can answer all your questions about it.

All I can say is I'm real glad I made the plunge and got one. Just the canned 91 tune really woke up my car. It now runs like it should have. At 25 MPH I can floor it and she just barks the tire and fishtails down the street. Wouldn't do that before.

I agree I'm also running the 91 cai tune and it's much better than the stock tune  :burnout:
