Daily driver E bodys?

My 72 Challenger was my daily driver until March of this year when I bought a new daily driver. It has a fresh 340 and 727 with 3.23 gears.

The real problem here is insurance. Classic car insurance is cheap, but you can't use the car as an everyday driver. I really have no idea what it would cost to insure an E-Body as an everyday car.   

In my case, the car would take me broke in gas usage.

As for insurance. I can tell you this the collision half of my policy for the Challenger as an everyday driver is more expensive then full coverage on my Z06.

I have regular Insurance with no restrictions and 25K in replacement coverage for <500/yr...

Drive it to work on nice days, but there are too many distracted drivers on the Highway in the morning and afternoon for my liking.  Many close calls in the limited commutes with it.

yea i drive mine daily,snow rain ,las vegas,

I spoke  with my local rep. and was very honest about what i do with the car, ie , track events (road course), drag racing(legal of course),and long trips , i did a Vanishing Point  return,and i drive it for work as a delivery car when ever i feel like it,i do really drive mine daily,my delivery points are no more than 10 miles so it is a great way to keep it running, and have an extra car in case my war horse lets me down(never has), but none the less its an extra car

I drive the Cuda nearly every day, not to work though, it doesn't carry lumber all that well LOL. Once I have a job staged or a little repair or whatnot, I drive it.

As for insurance, I only have liability, I know, I'm taking a big risk
Cost $350 or so for a 6 month term for the Cuda and Challenger. I would get Haggerty or whatever but I don't have my cars in an enclosed/ locked garage. Someday

Sweet challenger! I love the steering wheel too. I commend you guys for driving them daily. Around here it's like bumper cars on the streets.

I quit daily driving mine about 3 years ago now. Fuel went through the roof and I needed something that got better than 10mpg! I loved doing it though!

Thanks. The steering wheel is a stock rimblow with my attempt to restore the woodgrain. I used I believe a cherry wood spray paint from the local craft store and then covered it with something like 6 coats of clear. Oh and I didnt have a rimblow switch that worked or the horn button, so I drilled out the spot welds on the piece that holds the stock rimblow horn button on (I kept the piece in case I want to put it back some day) and discovered that the 3 spot welds were the same location for the 3 holes for the stock steering wheel horn button. So I drilled and tapped them and used a stock 72-74 horn button and cover.

I have one of those dash caps on mine becuase when I built the car I didnt have the money to buy a new pad or have mine redone.

I envy you guys who live in climates where you can use your E bodies as daily drivers!
I don't even like driving my late model cars around here from December through March, my old Bronco got destroyed by salt, and my formerly beautiful '95 Ram 1500 is getting pretty rusty these days too.
When I first got my 'vert in '97, my insurance company charged me more than the rates on my daily driver I averaged 15,000 miles a year on!!!  After a year of that rip off, I jumped ship back to State Farm because they had classic car insurance with cheap rates.  But you can't drive your vintage car as a daily driver with that policy.
And there is the worry factor too when you drive your classic.  I remember a few years back when Goody got his cuda tagged driving it one day, thankfully he was able to repair it, but that type of tragedy makes you think, as we all know, they aren't making any more of them (though if Dynacom goes into production with full bodies like they do with Camaros, Mustangs, and 57 Chevys, I guess maybe they will be making more?)
