STR 12 info,true or false?
« on: May 27, 2010 - 06:02:14 PM »
This past weekend I took my 69 Cuda up to my friends place to show him the car and especially the STR12 intake. He is an older guy with a lot background in Mopars. He said he had only ever seen one of these intakes before and that was at Englistown mopar show in the early eighties. He was telling me that he went to many of the racers tech classes over the years,he said that from what he can remember Herb MCcandless was talking about this intake and said that this was designed to compete in Trans Am racing against the Chevy DZ302 racing engine. My question to all of you is,can anyone verify hearing this also? And did anyone ever run this intake on the Challenger T/A or AAR Cuda race cars that anyone knows about? If anyone has any info on the STR12 could you please let me know?
Thanks Doug

Not 100% positive but I thought all the Trans Am race cars were limited to a single bbl. maybe someone else knows for sure.

in 1970 the SCCA changed the rules to mandate a single 4bbl carburetor.  Previously they could use multiple carbs.  all I know...

That fits to what he told me,he figured it was around 68/69 that these intakes were being done and possibly why there are so few of them?
