Brake shoe replacement glitch?
« on: October 16, 2004 - 05:18:56 PM »
Seems all the shoes napa has available have an oblong hole in the spot where the front return spring goes, the spring will not hook in(hole too big)
this is before I took it apart!

So, I decided to have the old ones relined, cool, problem solved, NOT, the guy who they (napa) sent em to LOST them, so they pull out the same shoes & one guy looks & says it's the wrong hole, use the next one, so being the good little camper I try it! well NO WAY, the propper spring is garbage now, stretched out of shape! :(
right spring wrong place, behind the spring you can see the odd shaped hole where mine had a smaller round hole!

was pickin up my master cylinder today & showed em the pics, definatly wrong but no solution, they had no more 10" kits, so he pulled an 11" kit, well the book shows(chrysler repair manuel) they use the second hole, so I bought that kit , both springs are the same, longer springs, so I tried one on the front, tension feels good, but I'm a lot leary about jury riggin something as critical as brakes????
What do you guys think? Rich.
