rear seats, pics are up!
« on: May 31, 2010 - 11:43:25 AM »
What am I doing wrong, I can't get the rear seats to look right!
upper is bottomed out on the top hook & screws are in at the botom, lower is in the thingy where you push down & slide foward.
if I remove the seat belt retractor I can get the lower seat BEHIND the floor bracket & it does seem to hook in back there, the gap is almost gone, tried the retractors in every way they could possibly go(I think?)
from the back window you can see the top seam on the seat, lower lines up pretty good with the side panals as it sits now(IN the floor bracket)
Here's some pics, fix me up would yas!  Rich.
Uploader full I'll try later, anyway got a big gap between upper & lower right where you'd sit on each side!

PHOTOBUCKET!

The tangs for the upper do not go into the body brackets, they sit in front.

No luck with pics yet, I'm gonna pull the rear seat out of the 74 up from the basement & compare the two & then try that in there, one of the nuts thinks maybe the upholstry guy pulled the covers down too tight in the curved areas.Might not get to that till next weekend, actually have some real work to do for a change! ;) Rich.

Could your seatbelt retractors be in upside-down, forcing the seat bottom down? The belts should come out above the mounting bolts.

I had them facing up at first, seat back won't come down anywhere near the bottom seat, the bottom seat is in the bracket , I'll try pulling the retractors out but I think I did that once already, was a little better but still a gap, gonna also pull the seat from the 74 up from the basement & compare the shape , try that one in the 73 & see where my problem lies.  busy season at work, so I hope to do it this weekend. I post up results, hope I didn't get a bad job from the upholstry shop? Rich.

It's the seat covers, put the 74 seats in & they are fine, both upper & lower are pulled too tight, gonna say it's probably weak foam(I hope, hmmm or do I ?)
My plan is to make chains out of the hog rings & loosen em up a bit, if that don't work I'll bring em back to the shop & see what he says, maybe add some foam?
Damn, that last pic is a nice angle on the car, looks deeeeeeeep!  Rich.
