A-833 Manual Trans/ Truck or Car?
« on: June 01, 2010 - 03:37:21 PM »
Is there a difference between a Mid 80's Truck A-833 Transmission and a 76 Volare A-833 Transmission? I believe the ouput is different but is there a difference in the gearing or bell housing? I converting my auto in my 73 challenger and need a donar. Thanks for the help JD

The Volare a833 is has the a-body tailhousing, while the truck has the b/e body housing.

I believe the truck transmission should work for you, but the gears have a wider ratio between them, meaning that you will get a larger RPM drop when shifting to the next gear.  If you are running a big block the torque should help hide this, but with a small block it will be more noticeable.

Check Brewers as it might pay you to use new pedals, they are not that expensive.   :2thumbs:
:iagree:  Great price on the box, did you get the yoke as well as if you have the 904 trans it is smaller than the 727 or manual box.
