Black, silver, or chrome wheels on alpine white challenger??
« on: June 01, 2010 - 11:15:18 PM »
Need opinions of which way to go.  Some folks said too many rallye wheels out there, so I decided to go steel wheels, stock car type with round or "D" slots.
Size is 15x7, 4 inch +/- backspace, 60 degree lugnut seat to fit OEM lugnuts.
Some examples include:

I did a 71 Challenger R/T that was white several years ago and put Magnum's on it - they looked perfect to me...

None of the above. Those look like wheels you'd put on a trailer.

First: Silver.  Black will blend in with the rubber, Chrome is too shiny for a white car (to me).

I'd go with Bassett wheels instead.  SCREAMS old school NASCAR.

Round it out with the correct 45 degree lugnuts

and I've had a set, too:  15x7 3.625" BS  No centercaps...

I've got chrome Aeros on my challenger, but they look different than the Cragars. They are more like cudazappa's Bassetts. If I can get the car rolled out of the garage in the next few days, I'll snap a picture.

IMO, chrome almost always looks good. Black centers with polished hoops are simply bad azz and solid black never does look good. Silver does have a kind of racer look to them, so they aren't totally awful. I've never been a fan of body colored wheels.

Chrome Aeros on my POS. PLease ignore the collection of crap that is sitting all over it.

As a darker car, the chrome does look decent. On a white car, it would still look okay, but the grey may be a nicer contrast.
