So....transperancy right....
« on: June 03, 2010 - 11:32:14 PM »
RANT ON!!  :villagers: Stop reading if your politically sensitive....

anyone besides me...just disgusted at this point?

Nationalized auto industry
Nationalized banking
Nationalized healthcare

So now....
Nationalized Education (scary)
Nationalized journalism (really scary)
Fairness doctrine (sp?)
Meeting with Hamas in secret
Favors for political races

I honestly am disgusted and scared

I didin't vote for this guy. But accepted him as my President because that is the right thing to do to support your Country. You support your leaders. But when your leaders seem to be fundamentally trying to undermine the American way of life and beliefs it's hard to keep any type of faith.

Sorry to vent - I'm sure many of you agree and just as many disagree. But this guy is going to the polls every chance he gets and put forth his effort to try and stop this madness

For those who may think that I'm uninformed - I am a news junkie and follow everything good and bad. I read voraciously and can actually name the justices on the Supreme court. I think a lot of us need to take off the rose colored glasses and actually objectivley look at what the current adminstrations is doing.

You can love or hate the last administration - but let it go, that's over and what the current administration is doing is so much worse.

Think about how much you pay in income (fed, state and local) taxes. Now think that with your "income" you pay additional taxes on your purchases. For someone like me - about 60% of my income now comes out of my pocket.

I've got friends who have said "Give them a chance"...and I have, problem is the things that they are doing cannot be fixed or repealed.

Okay...rant over....

It could be a lot worse. Obama has lowered taxes so far (but just barely) and the Bush tax cuts HAVE to expire because they were passed under reconciliation and have to be deficit neutral over 10 years due to the Byrd rule (the fact that they passed at all is a bit of a loophole really). So they either have to be paid for by spending cuts (which the previous administration didn't bother to do), or they have to go away. That's one of the reasons why we're in so much debt right now in the first place.

We've had almost 10 years of expensive wars AND we cut taxes in the meantime. In WW2, some of the highest tax rates were above 90%.

Historically speaking, we're in no position to complain about how badly we're being taxed. If we want lower taxes, we're going to have to raise taxes first, gut spending, pay off our debt, then talk about how far we can lower taxes to a sustainable level once we reach that point.

We've got a lot to pay for and simply cutting spending or simply raising taxes won't fix it on its own. We need both. Probably for a generation or more.

That's the biggest problem right there.  I am reading in the paper all the time about multi-million $ grants for low income housing, welfare, and on and on.  All he is doing is enabling the people who need to get off their butts the most to turn this country around.

As a Canadian I feel your pain. It seems that in all the good we try and do, there are always the % that take advantage of every situation. Welfare, government housing, unemployment insurance, healthcare, always get manipulated by the deadbeats making me (us) feel like I'm one of the minority supporting the people I have the least respect for. I am a firm believer in you are what you make yourself. If you want something, you work for it, a large % of my income goes towards supporting people who would rather sit back and take whatever assistance they can get there mits on.

Marty, I couldn't agree more.  I'm getting tired of people blaming Bush for the countries economic mess.  Obama has more than quadrupled the national debt in less than two years, and somehow that's Bush's fault!  :swear:
Tipper and Al Gore split and that's Bush's fault!! :pullinghair:  The housing market crisis was a direct result of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and Franklin Raynes pushing sub-prime loans down the banks throats and it's still Bush's fault!!  I'm sure it won't be long before Bush is at fault for causing the oil spill in the Gulf!   :banghead:  Obama and his Chicago style politics are the poorest excuse for a presidency in the history of this nation! He befriends our enemies and shuns our allies.  We spend more on health care, welfare, schooling and prison costs for illegal aliens and their "anchor" babies than we did/do on the Mideast wars, but Bush haters keep bringing up the war.  Oh, I forgot, 9-11 must be a figment of my imagination!!   Personally I can't until wait the midterm '10 and the 2012 National elections.  Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are history!!  :wavingflag:

"usraptr" = United States raptor - bird of prey = United States Bald Eagle.  FYI, somebody else thought of it first so I had to drop the "O" in raptor.

I was watching them wash the oil off a brown Pelican on the TV the other morning and it made me sad and mad. Not at the Oil companies, but the small minority who have blocked oil production everywhere in America but places like 1 mile deep in the Gulf in Tropical storm Alley. Now they point fingers at those that support domestic oil production as the reason for the disaster, hoping to stop it all together, while the lax MMS who Obama appointed the head of (a former BP employee..) was the real culprit for not testing the valve and instead arawrding BP a safety award 10 days before the disaster. Now Obama wants to tax oil to the point that the more expensive options are preferred, to "ween us off oil". That makes him one of THEM. In the face of the worst ecological disaster in 50 years he has a concert with McCartney who trashes Bush. What more needs to be said? I've seen enough. Liberals SUCK.
Once we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope & Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama, No Hope and No Cash!
