My shift at work was changed.  I start at 6:30pm until 3am.  I get home around 3:30-4am.

Dexron

Believe it or not, my fluid is the factory juice.  There is 36,000 miles on it.  It's still pink, but I really think it needs to be freshened up.  I don't have any problems at all, so maybe I should leave it be.  Any thoughts?

I have heard a lot of people talk about Type-F in 727's and I just had to replace my transmission and the shop that did the transmission work recommended Type-F and so I am filling it with Type-F

The specified type is Dextron III, I think the current version is VI ...

from http://www.mobil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Other_Products/Mobil_Type_F_ATF.aspx
Mobil ATF Type F is not recommended for automatic transmissions in Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, American Motors, or any other cars requiring a Dexron-II, Dexron-IIE, Dexron-III or Mercon-approved fluid, or for those Ford products requiring an M2C138CJ (Type CJ) fluid or an M2C166H (Type H) fluid. For the above applications, Mobil ATF D/M (Dexron/Mercon) or Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF are recommended.

Dexron VI is   :money: :money: :money:  :faint:

I bought a gallon of Dextron/Mercron from Tractor Supply, if I remember correctly for $12.00
Bet hey, if it's gonna be another 32 years spring for the good stuff.   :poopoke:

Larry, Last time I had my tranny pan off I also drained the converter, about 1/2 the fluid is in the converter I suppose....Between that & a leak I'm up to about 2 1/2 gallons of fluid.  Might wait to see how pink the fluid is when you get it in the drain pan, you may be surprised.

If I just drain what's in the pan and leave the torque converter alone, how many quarts would that be about?   I'm afraid of shocking the trans with all new fluid.  Some people say that it will do more harm than good when it is all changed at once, so they claim you should do it in small increments.  Is this just a myth?

You will need about 4 qts with a stock pan.
