Need advice - rad question...

Hi smart folk...

I need help.  I just finished replcing my water pump, and I have gotten everything all buttoned up and finished... and after firing it all back up, noticed that my rad now leaks... if it isn't one thing it's another...

So... my question is... is an aluminium rad (I'm on a really tight budget) a bad idea?  I have done some hunting around online and see that Summit has aluminium rads for $200.00.  I'm sure the shipping will kill me though, (I'm in Ontario)but at this point don't see any other place that has reasonably price rad's.

Any suggestions?

You might be able to have your rad recored, if there is a shop in your area. Aluminum is nice but definitely not a must. Usually I can have a rad redone for about 30 % less than the cost of a new one.

I do not have a answer to yoru question...but I may be able to save you on shipping.

If you live close to the US border, there is a company in Niagara Falls NY that will recive your package for you.

They charge you 5 bucks for their services.

So if you use sumit, they ship in the US for free., so your shipping is their $11 handeling fee, plus $5 and reciveign company. Of course there is your time to go get the package, but I usually give my self a brack on my labour rates!!!

Now that I think of it, you may want to make sure that alum rad is bolt in deal, if it is universal, you may have to fab up mounting brackets...which amy or may not be a big deal.

most alum rads have no provision for mounting them & will last longer if they are mounted in rubber to isolate them from chassis flex

I am probably just going to be orderingan aluminium one.  I have a friend that might be able to get me a good rate on one.

Never thought about mounting to rubber though!  Good call.  I'll be doing  that.

So I just order a Bee Cool aluminium rad the Qualifier series.
How bad is it that it has a 1 inch inlet/outlet?  Anyone?
