Idler Arm, Pitman Arm & Tie Rod Ends
« on: June 07, 2010 - 09:45:50 AM »
Hey guys I need to get a new idler arm, pitman arm & tie rod ends for my 71 Challenger Convertible.  What do you recommend? Over the counter parts or are the one's at places like PST any better?  If over the counter then who is selling the best ones.  Is there a kit that I can buy?  Thanks for your help.

Dave

Dave

There are a lot of kits - it all depends on how much you would like to spend and/or replace.
I bought a PST kit, not bad but also not Moog hard pieces (tie rods and the sleeves)
My car did require a full rebuild, as the rubber was completely gone on the driver side.

Do a search in the steering, tires/wheels and suspension section and you are sure to find a lot  :2thumbs:

Car Quest's blue line parts are Moog, the cheaper red line parts are lower quality offshore made stuff. I would also recommend you check the prices at rockauto.com, they carry the Moog parts also and a lot of times I've gotten parts from them cheaper than I could get locally even with the shipping factored in.

Just got my Upper ball joints from Rock Auto last week. $6 and some change each. Last time I ordered, they had Tie rod ends for around $5.
