11 3/4 disc brake upgrade

I am updating my brakes from drum to 11 3/4 inch disc brakes.  On the parts list from http://www.moparaction.com/Tech/archive/disc-parts_list.html they state that you should use calipers from 70-74 e-bodies or 70-72 b-bodies. I take it that they fit fine in the larger caliper adaptors and not the 76-78 b-body calipers  :dunno:, has anyone done this upgrade?  Any tips or problems I need to know about?

Also, they state that you should use the rotors from a 76-78 police car, I am think Plymouth Fury, does anyone know of other b-body police cars from those years?

I used calipers (sliders) and rotors from a 1980 new Yorker on my conversion this past winter.  Used a set of brackets I got from a member here....  :2thumbs:

The earlier (e-body) calipers do fit the later adapters as long as the adapters are the 'pin' type or you can go ahead and use the slider type.  For the rotors, I've always bought new.   I've done this swap several times and its pretty straight forward.

Thanks guys.  Yes I have the "pin" style caliper adaptors and I am ording new rortors as well.

I can't wait to see how well it will stop when I am done.

the issue with the later calipers is the way the hoses mount.  On some cars, there is a banjo mount (like the 73+ slider calipers), and others use a NPT fitting.  Sometimes that can cause the hose to bind.  I have stock 71 calipers and hoses on my car, I used the 76 - mid 78 pin type adapters, and I'm using the 71 spindles with the Dr. Diff bearing spacers, and generic Advance Auto Parts rotors.

I've done the swap from small disc to large disc twice now (79 diplomat, 71 challenger) and the braking is noticeable already.  Can only imagine from a drum setup.
