Heater Core Flush

I'm replacing both heater hoses, so the I figured I would flush out the heater core while the hoses are off.  Do I flush (using a garden hose) the upper or lower outlet?  Or doesn't it matter.

Yes you can use the garden hose, place the hose on both and do it a few times.
