Favor to ask.
« on: June 11, 2010 - 04:49:26 PM »
Being deployed to Iraq can have it's challenges. Where back home, you can go down to the store and get just about anything you need, the only stores here are the PX/BX and the haji shops. While you can usually get just about anything you need for over here at one of the shops or PX, you can't get Foosballs.
We scored an old beat up Foosball table but the balls didn't come with it. If there is anyone out there in Cuda-Challenger land that has a Foosball table and happen to have too many Foosballs, could you send one this way? It would greatly increase the quality of life for 30+, highly competitive guys.
We were all really excited when the truck showed up with the table, we got it unloaded and put it one of the empty rooms. We all stood around and just looked at it realizing we had no Foosball. Plus, it's my birthday today. I'm feeling lucky. Thanks if you can help and thank all of you folks anyway for being a great community of friends.

Single goalie or three-man goalie?

Reason I ask: I have a ball I can send for the three-man Tornado table, but it'll destroy a single-goalie banked corner table.

Yeah, it's a single goalie banked corner table. Thanks though.

Thanks Drew,

I was kinda hoping someone just had an extra laying around a game room, garage or basement. You didn't have to buy any, now I feel bad. I've got something for you, Brother. If the Foosballs don't have a return address for you make sure you shoot it to me in a PM.

When you get over here, make sure you request the USO to set up the United Through Reading program. I've found it to be tremendously helpful. Not only for reading to my daughter by way of DVR but also making a video for my Mom and Grandma, they don't do the webcam or Skype thing. It helps if you have people that aren't technologically up to speed and want to send a special message. I'm probably famous at the Seniors Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma!

I thought about that but haven't tried it yet. I was envisioning a ping pong ball acting like a real soccer ball. You know when you see a guy really get a boot on one and the ball curves off, missing the goal? LOL.

Is there an engineer company there? If so, you may be able to get a used ball bearing or ten to get you by.

A deydrated camel nut might work too.  :dunno:

Stay safe!

Well, we already have one. I don't know where it came from, someone (another command) was getting rid of it. We brought over a ping pong table but it got destroyed, story for another day.
If you were to find a command to donate it to all they would have to do is pay shipping. There is a DHL hub at BIAP and we have Fed-Ex here. Commands have DHL and Fed Ex addresses available to them. I don't know much more than that as I am not a supply type. The FPO system is essentially USPS, anything you can send USPS you can send to an FPO.
It would be a deal for someone if all they had to do was pay you shipping for a flat rate USPS move.
Thank you for your spirit of support.
