new challenger spoiler on an old challenger
« on: June 13, 2010 - 11:17:25 AM »
I did this last summer and i got a few requests to post a pic,

the job took about 20 hours with a heat gun, alot of clamps, some aluminum strap to clamp it to the bottom of the valance,as well as the eyebrows on the front of the wheel well, it was pretty cheap about $150.00 ,and alot of patience

still working with  images but here are some

I was just talking to my parts guy at the local dealer and the spoiler for the base Challenger and the R/T are the same but the SRT is different. Which did you use?  ??? They are both about $100 so I couldn't tell by price.

the r/t ,s are with out ducts ,and srt,s have the ducts , if you look closely you can see the ducts, which i might use them for fresh air, or brake ducts, but that is the difference it should show that in the parts diagram,

also if you  do this , i personally like the "eye brows" in front of the wheels, because they gave a place to tuck the extra length , and cover up what i had to cut off,

if you are really interested i can post the step by step pix i have (now that i have figured out this image loader, big thanks to tom cat :cooldancing:)

i can post them later today, this was my first one and my valance is not perfectly straight , so you can see a little difference from side to side, your valance will dictate the shape a little since the way i did it it follows the contour of the bottom of the valance ;)

I would sure love to know how you pulled this off. I just put an SRT-8 spoiler on my new Challenger, so I know you had to fabricate something to hold the center of it, since it wants to hang on to the valence panel.

trial fit

aluminum from the local hardware store, clamp and heat, very slowly, it will break and tear, the ends came off but i did this very slowly, with a heat gun to bend the flange back

after i got things even and where i wanted them, again i heated this , and used alot of tape, and then cooled it with an air hose, this takes a few times

then i removed the outer flange,

then it took a little thinking, and since this is the first one it is a little crude, im sure someone will make it better but i did it as cheap as possible and drilled all my holes in the valence, and i really spent more time on the heating and forming process

it simply bolts to the valence

and tape the ends, and i used the eye brows to hide my cut off end,

trim from door edge moulding, to hide the cut top,

again crude but it works

the eye brows bolt on like a mud flap,i like em some people dont

and there it is , it looks good enough for me ,

and the front end of the car seems to stay down at 120 mph in the Nevada desert :burnout:

Do you have P/Ns for everything?  Obviously an SRT front spoiler, but what about the "eye brows"?

BTW: that's a killer looking Challenger!
