Red trim on 72-74 grill question
« on: June 16, 2010 - 08:32:23 AM »
I repainted my grill last night..have the grill painted a color/texture similar to argent......the grill fins are black.....Now just need to paint the areas that are usually red....

Anyone know what parts-store color works the best to get the correct look?

I also considered painting those areas body color.

If anyone has pictures of what they have done and could post them here I would appreciate it....I did a search but couldnt find any solid leads or pictures.

Well I decided it wasnt a critical issue so I took a shot....picked up a can of "chrysler red" engine paint and us that.  It is stillcuring, but it looks great!

The clips on my trim rings are either missing or non functioning so I am going to try a dab of silicon on each pin and let that sit overnight to set up.

Will post pics once i reinstall thegrill.

Well, I think it turned out great!

BEFORE

AFTER

I did notice that the new paint on the grill added at least 50 HP...as evidenced buy the black mark on my street when pulling out of the driveway for the first time with the repainted grill.
