shifter rod clearance
« on: June 16, 2010 - 08:56:41 AM »
Anybody else have trouble with the rods rubbing the trans xmember? When i took the car apart, there was some shims between the trans and the mount.Wasnt sure what they were for,so didnt reinstall them. After putting the rods in,the 1-2 and 3-4 rub slightly on the xmember.Guess i found out why they were there. Is this normal to maybe have to shim? Its maybe a quarter inch.

Welcome to production tolerance stackup. Shimming will solve the issue, but the trans mount may also be compressing some. Are you using rubber or polyurethane?

You are suffering from a sagging mount, and probably tolerance stackup, as well. Change the mount, and consider urethane.
