SOLD

1970 Challenger 440 Six Pack 4-Speed (R/T tribute)

This car started life as a zero option slant six 3 spd manual transmission, FF4 green inside and out. Pretty much the shortest fender tag you’ll ever find. Nothin’ but a heater and a couple of moldings.

About twelve years ago it was cloned into a V-code R/T. All the good parts were used, including an 18-spline HD gear box, and the skid plate reinforced K-member. It also has a 26” radiator, HD torsion bars, and XHD rear springs

Engine is a very strong running 440, with ported 906 heads running 2.14/1.81 valves and hardened seats. Of course, it’s also got a factory Six Pack set-up on top.

Out back is an 8 ¾ axle assembly, currently packing a 741 case differential running 2.76 gears and a Power Lok (clutch) Sure-Grip. I’ve also got a 489 case 3.91 Sure-Grip for the car. Buyer gets choice of one or the other.

The car is now equipped with power steering and manual disc brakes (w/ 11” rear drums). It steers and stops very well.

Body is rust free. I can find one spot in the trunk where it has been patched. This was a rust free western car to begin with and it shows.

The FY1 Top Banana paint is driver quality. It is at least twelve years old and shows its age. It is a ten-footer in that respect. There is orange peal and chips, but the nature of the color hides it very well. It’s certainly nothing to be embarrassed about.

Interior is in good condition. Instrument panel has been converted to Rallye gauges with restored facing. The appliqué is a sticker overlay though, and would benefit from replacement. Other interior parts are a mixture of dyed originals, or black replacements. Front seats have been re-covered. Back seats are the originals dyed black. If I were to invest any time and money in the car, it would be to replace the dash and console appliqués. Originally a radio-delete car, it now has an in-dash stereo/CD/MP3.

It all rolls on 15” Rallye wheels with BFG T/A tires.

The car does have some interesting history as it was originally restored by the late Jerry Blake of Mopar Parts fame. That being said, you know it was put together right. I am the third owner since that time.

I’ve owned numerous Mopar muscle cars, and this one rates as one of the best, if not the best in terms of drivability and reliability. You can jump in this car and drive it anywhere feeling confident it will get you home. I’ve been using it as my fair weather daily driver, getting my daughter to school and me to work. I just completed a 2850 mile round trip on the Hot Rod Power Tour with no issues other than a bad ballast resistor. This is a car you could truly fly in to purchase and drive home.

Car is located in Southern Indiana. Cash price is $27000.

I'll knock off $1200 to sell the car without the Six Pack set-up, and I'll replace it with a four barrel supplied by the buyer.

I'd also knock off a few bucks to sell the car without the stereo.
