Repro or Original

I have to replace the fender on the passenger side of my '70 'cuda. My Dad, who was storing the car while I'm on deployment, dropped it off at a shop to have some work done. I bought new floor pans, thanks Stefan, and SFC's, thanks Auto Rust Technicians. They are going to install both and I thought they could straighten the fender but it's a no-go.

My main concern is if the AMD , 70-71, fenders are noticeably different. If they put this repro on could you tell it was a repro after body work, i.e. fender lips, corners,......?

Should I just try to find a good original?

AMD Cuda fenders we wont see until late fall at the earliest. Goodmark fenders are available now, This will come down to can you wait and how much money you want to spend on a OE fender that will need to be stripped and fixed anyway. Once the car is painted very difficult to see what they are as in OE or repop. We have sold plenty of these from Goodmark each fender is it's own, as in no 2 are alike.

  Whether it's original or a repop, it will need some massaging to fit right.  If you have to pay someone to fix your original or to go out and find an original that will need fixing, it might be cheaper in the long run to buy a repop.  If you have the time and can do some of the work yourself, then I'd keep looking for a good original that you might be able to pick up cheap.

I have two NOS fenders for my Challenger that I bought from the dealer like 30 years ago.  The headlight buckets on both fender were welded in wrong and had to be drilled out and re-positioned. So much for NOS goodness.

Are the AMD's looking like they will be far superior to the Goodmark?

they dont have any test panels yet. So to ask are the AMD going to be superior is a little premature. Track record AMD vs Goodmark on other panels of same part their is small variations BUT both AMD amd Goodmark have had qc issues from panel to panel

Thanks, I've been looking all around the Roseville Moparts site shopping and inputting everything I need into my Excel spreadsheet for the 'Cuda. It seems Roseville is right on with other parts I've inputted from other vendors. I went ahead and switched around some of the "Vendor" and best of all "Price" column data to reflect Roseville offerings.

I have a '74 Challenger. Back a few years ago I had the driver's side front wheel come off while going down the interstate. Needless to say I needed a new front fender. I purchased one from Goodmark. I could not have been happier. It required almost no massaging. It aligned almost perfect. The bolt holes were in the right place, lined up and fit very well. Then the whole car was painted. You'd be hard pressed to tell it's not OEM. So as far as I am concerned the Challenger panels are A-OK. I am not sure how well the Cuda panels fit, but they did a good job with the Challenger panels. I hope the Cuda panels fit as well as the Challenger panels!!

That's just too funny 

I don't know why it's taking so long for AMD to make E-body Cuda fenders,but whenever they come out with them, the difference will be obvious in the thickness, AMD stuff is alot thicker, but in meantime Goodmark fenders is an option if decent used fender can't be located ,from what I've seen, they fit pretty good, just very thin metal.

The problem I'm having with the original fenders I've found is the people don't want to ship them. I am thinking about going with Goodmark and later when the car gets final paint and body (a few years) go with AMD for the thicker metal.

Just curious, but did Goodmark ever fix the passenger side Challenger lower body line issue?
